Delicious apple pie recipe using a homemade double crust.
Ingredients
- 6 Cups Apples, thinly sliced
- 1 Cup Sugar
- ¼ Cup Flour
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
- ¾ tsp Nutmeg
- 3 tbsp Butter
- 1 Double pie crust (see recipe on this site)
Instructions
- Combine apples, sugar, flour, and spices in large mixing bowl.
- Mix well and place in unbaked bottom crust.
- Dot with butter.
- Place top pastry on top and cut 4 slits.
- Brush with a mixture of 1 egg yolk and 2 tbsp water.
- Bake at 400 degree F. for 45-50 minutes. Cool on cooling rack.
